The Welsh Blacks

Phil OkwedyBorn in Cardiff to a Welsh mother and a Nigerian father, Phil grew up in South Pembrokeshire where he still lives and works. He has been telling stories since 2011, has worked with storytellers from five international festivals as part of the Grundtvig Storytelling Programme, and has recently set up a monthly storytelling café in his hometown of Tenby.

The Welsh Blacks:

Weaving five Welsh tales together, a poor farmer defies death at the hands of his brothers and then sets out along the old drover’s roads of Wales. With the help of one black bird and five black cattle he will conquer destitution, make and then lose a fortune, and all this in the name of love and revenge.
